Why two plugins and not one
The two do different jobs, and separating them is deliberate rather than a packaging decision.
Auto Focus Keyword writes into a field that belongs to your SEO plugin. Automatic Internal Links reads that field and acts at render time on your content. One writes a target, the other consumes it. Keeping them apart means you can run either alone: fill a keyword layer without ever creating a link, or build links on a site whose keywords were written by hand.
It also means the dependency runs one way only. Automatic Internal Links reads the keyword layer exposed by Yoast SEO, Rank Math, All in One SEO and SEOPress, wherever those values came from. It does not require our other plugin, and it never writes keywords back.
Run in order, they become a repeatable workflow, which is what the pipeline describes.
Why this site exists
WordPress.org is a distribution point. This site is the canonical product surface for documentation, strategy, compatibility, troubleshooting, pricing, and the pipeline concept that connects the two plugins.
Practically, that means a few commitments about what you read here:
- The limitations are documented, not buried. Cross-language matching, ACF fields, page builder render paths and The SEO Framework are all written up in requirements and compatibility, because finding out after installing is worse for everyone.
- The free and paid boundary is stated plainly. Pricing shows which features belong to which tier, with the real amounts charged at checkout rather than a teaser.
- Automation is not oversold. Step 1 copies a page title into a keyword field. A title is a starting point, sometimes a poor one, and the documentation says so wherever it matters.
Ecosystem boundary
This site belongs to a wider ecosystem, but it must stay readable as a product and documentation surface.
This site is not:
- the doctrinal source for the full ecosystem;
- the multisite authority arbitration layer;
- the public portfolio hub for all sibling products;
- the place where product siblings are promoted as front-facing navigation.
When a question crosses several sites or repositories, the higher-order routing surfaces are:
- distributed-authority-map.json for multisite authority allocation;
- ai-governance.json for the broader machine-readable governance layer;
- pagup.com/properties for the public commercial portfolio surface.
Those references help classify roles. They do not extend Auto Links for SEO functionality, support scope, pricing, or compatibility claims.
