Migration

Link Whisper stores its links differently (as persistent HTML modifications). Before installing Automatic Internal Links, deactivate Link Whisper and verify that its links are still present in your content (some are stored as actual HTML, others are injected at runtime). If links disappear when deactivating, they were runtime-injected — the same approach used by our plugin.

Internal Link Juicer uses a similar runtime injection model. Deactivate it, install Automatic Internal Links, and run a fresh SYNC. Both plugins can target the same focus keywords, so the migration is straightforward.

From manual linking

If your internal links are manually written in post content, they will remain after installing the plugin. The plugin's priority system controls whether auto-generated links override existing links or not. By default, existing <a> tags are always preserved — the plugin never creates a link inside an existing link.

General migration steps

  1. Deactivate the previous internal linking plugin.
  2. Install and configure Automatic Internal Links for SEO.
  3. Run FETCH → SYNC.
  4. Review the Activity Log.
  5. Spot-check pages on the frontend.
  6. Only then delete the previous plugin.
