Try Automatic Internal Links Pro
The free version builds your internal link network on demand, across posts and pages. Pro makes it continuous, extends it to products and custom post types, and moves the work into the background so a large site is not held together by a browser tab.
What Pro unlocks

Who actually needs it
Large sites. Above roughly a thousand items, a foreground sync takes minutes and depends on you keeping the page open. Background processing removes that constraint: batches of 10 to 100 items run on a schedule from every 15 minutes to daily, so the load is spread rather than concentrated.
Sites that publish continuously. A new article is only worth linking once something links to it. AUTO LINKS closes that gap automatically instead of leaving new content orphaned until your next manual pass.
WooCommerce catalogues. Products are Pro only, and a store is precisely where editorial content should be linking into product pages. The free version cannot make those connections.
Constrained hosting. Smaller batches on a longer interval is the practical answer to a shared host with tight PHP limits, and that control is a Pro setting.
Who does not need it yet. A stable site of posts and pages that publishes occasionally. One manual SYNC builds the network, and it keeps working, because rules persist until you change them.
How the trial works
The trial is a 7-day paid trial managed by Freemius, the payment platform used for both plugins. Payment details are required at checkout, and the exact terms, currency and site tier are shown there before you confirm.

Get more out of the trial
- Have a keyword layer first. The linking plugin reads focus keywords. On a site where that field is mostly empty it will find almost nothing to link, and you will have tested nothing. Start from no focus keyword set if that is your situation.
- Turn on AUTO LINKS, then publish. Create a post that mentions an existing keyword and watch whether it is linked without your intervention. That is the feature.
- Test the background engine under real load. Set a batch size and frequency that match your site, then leave it alone for a few days. The question is whether it keeps up, and only elapsed time answers it.
- Validate on the frontend, not in the log. The log lists rules; exclusions, existing links, self-link protection and the per-page limit all reduce rules to rendered links. Look at real pages on your real theme.
- Confirm nothing broke. Links are injected at render time and nothing is written to your posts, so the trial is fully reversible: deactivate and every generated link disappears.
